Geese Life Style In Canadian Winter

This morning I was fortunate to walk into a Canada Geese meeting on a semi-frozen pond in the outskirts of Toronto. From what I was able to understand, I think they were having a meeting on whether or not to start flying South for their annual migration to access food supplies as the lakes, rivers, and ponds begin to freeze.
Due to milder winters, they were discussing their options if to just stay put. Others were contemplating the fact that they could fly 1500 miles in 24 hours and sometimes at 40km/h in a special V formation to conserve energy. However, the two white swans that approached me were not really involved in the meeting because they had their own plans for the winter migration. This reminds me that we don’t always have to follow the crowd, but our own intuition
